The care of the younger participants on the course is very well catered for, under the guidance of a large team of house parents. The team will be on hand to help all under 18’s settle in and make friends . There is also a female house parent who is responsible for the children under 13. All house parents (including the Artistic Director Murray McLachlan and his family) who are DBS cleared and have first aid training all help to make the week run smoothly. There is a bedtime 'signing-in' procedure and bedtimes are suggested to the different age ranges.
There is a welcome for all under 18's and their parents on the day of registration at 6.45pm. Important health and safety information is given out and all of the house parents are introduced.
The school benefits from 24 hour security guards ensuring that everyone is safe and secure. 11-17 year olds inclusive are allowed out in pairs. All under 18 participants must inform reception and sign out when they leave the school, even for a short while. Manchester is an exciting city. However, caution and common sense must be bywords when venturing forth into this vibrant metropolis.
A map highlighting the safest areas of Manchester is available at reception.
There are always many younger participants and in the words of one rather shy teenager – ‘I’m so glad I plucked up courage to come – I just can’t believe how incredibly friendly everyone is. Please make sure everyone knows that you will be made very welcome. See you next year!’
NB Children attending the course must be 8 years of age by the 1st day.
