NEW for 2018  - Contemporary Piano Course

We are delighted to announce the Contemporary Piano Course for 2018. This is an exciting opportunity to study with two leading experts in contemporary piano repertoire.

On week one we welcome award-winning pianist Megumi Masaki. Megumi is known not only for her dynamic temperament, “riveting and mind-expanding” (Fréttabladid 2013) performances and warm rapport with audiences, but also for the breadth and innovation of her artistic activity.
Numerous piano, multimedia (with interactive and fixed electronics, interactive and fixed visuals, and gesture tracking), and chamber works have been composed specifically for and in collaboration with Megumi and she has premiered over 70 works worldwide.

On week two we welcome back Peter Lawson, tutor in Piano and Contemporary Piano at the RNCM. Peter’s many commercial recordings reflect a particular interest in 20th century music and include Satie (for EMI and awarded a Silver Disc), American Sonatas (2 volumes for Virgin Classics) and Michael Nyman’s concerto (with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra). As a recipient of a prestigious Churchill Fellowship, he spent 6 weeks touring the USA, researching repertoire and meeting composers.

It is possible to choose up to 3 individual lessons on the course.

Peter has put together a list of repertoire ranging from grade 3 to very advanced. It is an ideal opportunity to discover new repertoire. This course is suitable for every level of pianist.
