Opening Recital with Leslie Howard
The Chetham's Piano Summer School is thrilled that every year Leslie Howard returns to not only teach but perform for us.
A recent review from the Independent of his Wigmore Hall shows what an incredible musician he is - don't miss his performance tonight.

'At the Wigmore, he was celebrating his 70th birthday – and the release of his hundredth Liszt CD – with a programme entitled “Liszt at the Opera”: six dramatic arrangements of scenes and arias from works by Handel, Verdi, Mozart, Meyerbeer, Gounod, and Bellini.

They were all masterly compositions, and – with mountains of notes – they all demanded high-octane virtuosity. No other pianist could have carried off this programme with such nonchalant efficiency: Howard really is one of a kind.' May 2018

On the 2nd part we welcome the distinguished Irish pianist and composer Philip Martin as the Composer-in-Residence. Philip combines a busy solo performing career with that of a composer and teacher. It is these three elements of his musical personality that make him such a force in musical life today.
