Kodály for Pianists
New for 2018, we are excited to offer individual lessons on the course Kodály for Pianists, with Megan Beynon. The work of Zoltán Kodály has inspired the development of many effective tools and approaches to music education. The lessons will demonstrate how the principles of Kodály can be applied to piano playing at all levels, for instance to improve rhythm, internal pulse, creation of a singing melodic line, ornamentation and memorisation.
The sessions will focus on helping you to identify and practice tools that will help with your own particular interests and to apply them to your current repertoire. It also incorporates an introduction to the principles of Kodály, and typical activities associated with developing an integrated kinaesthetic, aural and visual appreciation of music.
Singing is optional although singing activities will be used and demonstrated.
