During a career embracing solo and ensemble playing, John has performed all over Britain, across Europe and at New York's Carnegie Hall. He has appeared with the RPO Pops, RLPO and Northern Chamber Orchestra under conductors including Sir Neville Marriner and Guy Wolfenden, as well as performing recitals at Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room in London and also the Chester, Buxton and Ribble Valley Festivals.
He has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 many times, including first performances of works by Bridge, and complete piano quartets of Brahms, Faure and Dvorak and appeared in concert with Martin Roscoe, Janet Hilton, Jane Irwin and Jack Brymer. John studied at RNCM (with Marjorie Clementi and Gordon Green) and won the John Ireland Centenary Piano Competition. He joined the RNCM staff in 1993 and has examined for the Royal Academy, Guildhall and Manchester University on several occasions.
