Claudius Tanski was born in Essen/Germany in 1959. He studied in Essen, Salzburg, Vienna and London, where Alfred Brendel was his most important teacher for several years.
Tanski won a lot of prizes and distinctions at international competitions and played as a soloist as well as a chamber-musician at important festivals. He played throughout Europe and also in USA, South America, Japan, South-East Asia and India.
Tanski recorded some 20 CD`s for the German label MDG (www.mdg.de). His recordings were honoured with a lot of international prizes, among them "CD of the year" for US-magazine "Fanfare", "Editor`s Choice" of "Gramophone", five times the "Prize of German Record Critics" and an "Echo-Klassik-Prize" 1997 in the division Chamber music.
Claudius Tanski is Professor at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg.
